That Fateful Day

Written By: Roger William Sterling, III
On September 11th a year ago,
America's spirits tumbled.
As we all watched, with shock and grief,
three great landmarks crumbled.
Many lives were taken on that day,
but much to our surprise,
America, again, rose from the dead;
as Jesus so did rise.
We had to fight a hard battle
while battening down the hatches,
Which was the toughest fight of all -
the deadliest of matches.
We had to fight our worst enemy,
who seemed like a blip on a screen,
But we would never ever believe
the challenges foreseen.
God blessed America once before,
He'll bless us once again
As we had shared our blessings
with one another just the same.
For we do thank Him for those who died
and the living who still remain -
As He has blessed us many times before,
why should we complain?
Lord, thank you for blessing us,
America: the bountiful nation
And help us to remember You,
our Rock, the firm Foundation
As our forefathers so had made
a nation so strongly built -
A nation built upon a Rock -
not mud, nor sand, or silt.
