See That Star?

Written by: Roger W. Sterling, III

See that star up in the sky?
Somewhere I hear a lullaby
And the soft sound of a baby’s low cry
That comes from a stable by and by.
See those men - those men of old,
Bringing gifts of myrrh, frankincense, and gold?
For they are the most highly respected
Of all their people, which is expected.
See those shepherds tending their sheep?
For they must not get very much sleep.
So much work, but not much pay
For someone to work day after day.
Hear the angels with voices ringing?
‘Tis the Baby Jesus for whom they are singing.
For He is born on this wonderful day
In a stable, in a manger, on the hay.
Come, let’s celebrate this wonderful day -
A day, on which, we give the utmost praise.
And let us all raise our voices and sing
Of the newborn baby, Jesus Christ the King!
