One Easter Morning
Divider bar

Written By: Roger William Sterling, III

One Sunday morning as the sun arose,
There came from the tomb a very bright glow
And Jesus arose from the grave,
Which once had held him as a slave.

Two women walking by the tomb,
That cold, dark, unforgiving womb,
Saw that the stone was rolled away
And wondered, "Why did they take our Jesus away?".

Then Jesus came and said, "Why do you weep?
For I am no longer in deadly sleep.".
They began to hold him very close
As we often do with the ones we love most.

But He said, "Don't hold me for I've not ascended,
But tell everyone my troubles have ended.
For I am no longer a shackled slave
Of that cold, dark, musty grave.".

Let's all celebrate this day of days
And give our God the utmost praise.
For we can declare on this joyful day
That Christ OUR Lord is risen today! Divider bar
