The Lone Star

Written By: Roger W. Sterling, III

Long ago on a cold Winter night
When a lone star shined so bright -

A Virgin woman, meek and holy
Bore a child in a manger lowly.

A chorus of angels with voices raised
Came together to sing His praise.

Shepherds in the field, tending their sheep
Kept close watch as the baby did sleep.

Three wise men came from the East,
Who were quite rich, to say the least.

They brought frankincense, myrrh, and gold,
As the story was foretold.

They worshipped this Babe, the King of the Jews
When they heard the wonderful news.

As we prepare, this Advent season,
Let's all remember whose birth was the reason.

Let's follow the star all the way
To where the Child sleeps on the hay.
