The Last Meal
Divider bar

Written By: Roger William Sterling, III

One Thursday night in the Upper Room,
A night of known impending doom,
The room was lit and the table spread
With the best wine and finest bread.
The twelve disciples gathered to eat
Of the best fruit and finest wheat.
Then Jesus arose and began to speak
From His place at the head seat,
"This is My body, for you it is broken
According to the words My Father has spoken.
Take and eat in remembrance of Me
So that you may live in Eternity.".
After everyone ate, He took the cup.
He filled, blessed, and raised it up,
"This is My blood shed for you
Shed for all - not just a few.
Take and drink in remembrance of Me
So that you may live in Eternity.".
Thank you, God, for this gift freely given
So we may have a place in Heaven
And partake of Your wonderful Heavenly feast -
Spread for the greatest and the least.
