This is a clay model of the General P. G.
T. Beauregard Statue. The Statue will be 8 feet long by 7 feet tall, on a 2,000 pound
marble base. It will be placed on the lawn of the Beauregard Parish Courthouse.
Beauregard Parish, Louisiana was formed in 1913, and was named for General Beauregard. His
children donated two Civil War era cannons to the Parish, which were prominently displayed
on the Courthouse lawn until World War Two, when they were donated by the Parish as scrap
metal to assist with the war effort. Since then, the Parish has been without any kind of
memorial to its namesake.
The Beauregard Committee is a not for profit educational organization formed in 1996 to
commemorate the memory of General P. G. T. Beauregard.
It has obtained permission from the Parish government to erect a Statue of General
Beauregard on the lawn of the Parish Courthouse. The local chapter of the NAACP fully
endorses this project as relevant to the history of Beauregard Parish.
This statue is estimated to cost $85,000, and it
will be erected without any government funding. We are seeking your donations to
assist us with erecting this statue to General P. G. T. Beauregard.
