Home Is Where?
My home is in Louisiana
Although I don't know why
For I really love the hills
And I will until I die.
They say the South is warmer
And I suppose that's so
But I miss the bright fall colors
And I miss the winter snow.
Southern season's face is subtle
You scarcely note the change
Fall just eases into winter
It really does seem strange.
I love autumn's bright blue sky
Sudden chilling winds that come
Before the frost and snow begin
Often leaving our fingers numb.
I like to walk on winter days
When the biting wind is strong
When it's whistling thru the pines
I can hear it's lonesome song.
Maybe I can watch the snow
As it covers drab brown earth
With a blanket, sparkling white
While I sit close by the hearth.
Maybe then I'd miss the south
With it's lazy sunshine days
(I've got to make up my mind)
I just can't have it both ways!
