No new information has been released for Friday, October 7th
Update From Incident Command For Thursday October 6th.
- Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will not be serving meals after today,
Thursday, Oct 6, 2005. Red Cross in DeRidder will not be serving any
meals after the evening meal on Friday, Oct 7. The kitchen at Pleasant
Hill Baptist Church will be closing Friday evening.
- Beauregard Electric as of 9:00am today, Oct 6, has restored electric
power to 72.18% of their customers in Beauregard Parish.
- Red Cross has advised us that they will be at the Civic Center on
Friday and Saturday October 7th and 8th from 8am to 4pm and again on Monday,
Oct 10th through possibly Friday, Oct 14th. These hours will also be
8:00am until 4:00pm. Depending on the number of applicants they may not
continue through Friday, October 14th. This financial assistance applies
to structural damage only. This does not apply for power outage, food
spoilage or generator purchases.
- FEMA has not provided us any information concerning their opening date,
hours or location at this time.
Information From Incident Command For October 6th.
- Tarps can be obtained for damaged metal roofs by calling the Beauregard
Parish Sheriff Department at 337-463-3282, ext 159. Tarps for damaged
shingle roofs can be obtained by calling 1-888-ROO-FBLU.
- Bundicks Lake in Beauregard Parish is being drawn down 4 to 5 feet
below normal pool stage. In order to make road repairs on Hwy 394, this
level is expected to be achieved this weekend. Once repairs are made, the draw
down gate will be closed allowing the reservior to return to normal pool stage.
- The Office of Family Security (OFS/Food Stamp Disaster Program) will
be at the VFW in DeRidder through Friday, Oct 7, 2005 from 7am through 5:30 pm.
They will not be taking applications on Saturday or Sunday. They will open back
up taking Food Stamp Disaster Program applications on Monday oct 10-14th
at their office on Hwy 190 in DeRidder from 7am through 5:30pm. Eligiblity
is based on take home income for all household members, available cash
resources and storm expenses and the number of people in the
household. Not everyone is eligible. Being in a disaster area does
not automatically qualify you for these food stamps. Be sure to bring
proof of identity and residence.
- As of 8pm Oct. 5th, Beauregard Electric has restored power to 69.5%
of their customers in Beauregard Parish.
- As of 8am Oct 6, CLECO has restored power to 99% of their
customers. CLECO asks that if you are still without electricity to
please call their office and make a report.
- Beauregard Parish Schools began today at schools in DeRidder, East
Beauregard and Merryville and will begin tomorrow, Fri, Oct 7th in Singer,
Hyatt and South Beauregard.
- Red Cross will be in DeRidder taking applications on Friday October 7
at the Civic Center from 8am to 4pm. Additional information will
be provided later today concerning the number of days, hours and
what they will or will not be providing. This information will be determined
later today, probably mid afternoon time frame.
Information From The 7:00 Am Incident Command Meeting October 5th.
- CLECO announced they were at 97% of restored customers in Beauregard Parish.
- Beauregard Electric reported at 7:30 PM on october 4th they had restored
64% of their Beauregard Parish customers.
- Schools will open for students in DeRidder, East Beauregard and
Merryville on Thursday, oct 6th and at South Beauregard, Singer and Hyatt
on Friday Oct 7th.

- The burn ban has been lifted.
- Today is the last day for the Resource Center to deliver food, water and
ice to the previously listed locations.
- Red Cross mobile feeding and feeding at Pleasant Hill Baptist church will
continue through Friday.
- An announcement concerning the location and dates of Red Cross will
be made tomorrow, Thursday, October 6th.
- No information is available yet on FEMA's location or dates of
openings.
